VA Paranormal Conference May 12, 2006 - Day 1
What a nice weekend to get away. It has been raining for the past week, all cloudy and no sun. It did not stop for the whole weekend. The rain was gone to in Ohio. Wow what a day. It started at 3am because I had to go to work this morning. The day was slow at work so I got to leave early, which I learned later on that it would not matter. I got caught in traffic. Left work at 11:00 AM and topped off the car at BP. Picked up some water and I was on my way. It rained most of the time in Ohio. The clouds followed me the entire trip. There was a delay on the Ohio Turnpike by an accident of a semi on the side of the road, which caused a delay was about 15 minutes.
My first stop was at 13:30 in Pennsylvania. I needed to wake up. The driving was getting me tried (getting up at 3am will do that to anybody). Used the facilities, got a hot dog and some No Doze, topped of the car (took about 15 dollars) and was on my way again. In PA, I saw some giant windmills on top of a hill, to help produce electric. It was nice country going up the hills, around the mountains and down into the valleys and one tunnel. Had lots of time to think while driving, I kept thinking was this a good idea to go on this trip alone. Almost turned around a couple of times, but I kept going.
Next stop was off the PA pike going on Interstate 70 East. This is one crazy exit from the PA Turnpike to 70 East. I was not going to stop but there were gas stations everywhere. Stopped at Exxon and again topped off the fuel and used the facilities. Who knew that was going to be my last stop? This was at 4pm. Got onto Washington Bypass around 17:30, coming in was not a problem. I kept seeing all of the traffic on the other side of the road (which was 5 lanes) and I had a feeling that I was in trouble. When I was coming up to the exit to 95 south, it was backed up onto the interstate from the Washington Bypass. While on the 95 South, the traffic would not move (I learned later from a person around here that I met at the café that to avoid 95 at all cost, going to remember that) it just stopped for no reason. It was just one busy highway. The trip on 95 south should have taken only about an hour but it took me forever to get to Richmond. I had to call mom and Diane to keep me awake because I was getting frustrated with everything and getting tired. I got to Richmond fine but got lost the first time around. Diane and I figured it out and finally got to where I need to go. I had to eat something because I was getting the shakes. Got to the hotel at 9pm. Unloaded the car and when I came back down, I saw Grant and Steve from TAPS in the lobby. That was cool.
I kept thinking while I was traveling, was this trip worth it? I kept feeling that I should turn back. Getting close to Richmond I was getting tired and fed up. Also panic when I got "lost" in Richmond. But after seeing the people from TAPS, yep it was worth all of it. Got some dinner at the café in the hotel and talked to a local lady who was here (forgot her name). Went to bed around 11pm for a 7am wakeup call from mom, But my alarm went off early. Oh well. I was up for almost 20 hours that day, it was not fun. Will not do that next time I go on a trip, I will take my sister along.
